What better place for professional athletes to display their lyrical prowess on the mic than at HipHopSportsReport.com?

Okay, given the track record of many hoopers turned emcees, maybe we won’t make a habit out of this. But two ballers, who have not hid their love for hip-hop, have released new music, and given the holiday season, we’ve decided to share.

New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert has been relegated to cheerleader due to a knee injury he suffered late last season. But that hasn’t stopped him from fostering team unity for the Knickerbockers through his rhymes. He’s even coined the “Knickstape” rallying cry for the team that has caught on with fans everywhere.

With the Knicks fresh off stomping the Heat for a second time this year and with the team in first place in the Eastern Conference, Shumpert decided to drop his “Knicks Clique” freestyle in support of his boys.

Meanwhile on the west coast, Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace (aka Ron Artest) today released his original song “Represented”, which has no apparent connection to the Lakers, but is more a synopsis of his upbringing and reppin his hood (Queensbridge projects). The beat is decent; the lyrics are…very MWP.

What do you think? Who’s got the better bars? We already know who has the better team. (Hint: It ain’t the Lakers. Of course, some predicted the team would struggle).
